Student Paper Awards and Travel Grants

Association of Pacific Coast Geographers
84th Annual Meeting Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA (Hybrid)
Oct. 6th – 8th, 2022

ATTENTION: There is a technical glitch on the registration website.  There is no option to enter the student paper competitions.  Instead, once the registration period has ended, officials from the APCG will email each student who submitted an abstract and offer them an option to enter student paper competition(s).  Thank you for your patience.

Here is an excellent opportunity for students who would like to present their research at a professional meeting. Students benefit from the challenge of presenting to a diverse audience and receiving expert feedback. To encourage participation and to recognize and reward meritorious student scholarship, the APCG offers the following awards. Note that student presenters may also apply for a travel grant of $200. Travel Grants for Students

To encourage student participation, the APCG will commit $5,000 to travel grants of $200 each (except for students from the local area who will be eligible to receive travel grants of $50).  If grant applications exceed the $5,000 total, recipients will be selected by a random lottery.  To be eligible for a travel grant, a student must be an APCG member and must present a paper or poster at the annual meeting.  However, you do not need to be entered into the paper/poster competition to be eligible for a travel grant. If you wish to be considered for a Travel Grant for Students, please click the relevant checkbox as part of the registration process by September 16, 2022.  Recipients will be notified by September 23, 2022, and will be awarded grant checks at the banquet in Bellingham (or by mail afterward).

Deadline for applying for a Travel Grant for Students is Friday, September 16, 2022. (PDF of announcement)
